Walking breaks and holidays in one of
the best ‘secret places’
The Yorkshire Wolds – beautiful underrated countryside, where you can walk and hike along little know tracks, paths and bridleways. Rolling hills and shallow valleys combine with stunning views across the hills towards the Yorkshire coast. Pass through quiet picturesque Wolds and ‘Sledmere’ villages with ancient churches and pretty cottages.
Walking the Wolds
The Old Mill Bed and Breakfast is set in quiet countryside on the Wolds and is a short distance from a wide selection of walks, from 2 miles to 80 miles long, graded as easy to more difficult. We welcome walkers and we have a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding area to help you make the most of your walking holiday. Ask about our picnic hampers ideal to sustain you on your walk. Dogs are welcome with bedding and bowls available at the Bed and Breakfast.
“Cottam circular walk” is only 3 miles from the Old Mill and takes you through the old village of Cowlam with a medieval church. The Yorkshire Wolds Way is an 80 mile (129 Km) walking route in the chalk landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds. We are just 6 miles from this National Trail, which passes through some of the most tranquil and gentle countryside in England. The final section of the way finishes on the dramatic headland of Filey Brigg.
Walking weekends and short breaks
If the weather is less than perfect we have laundry and drying facilities with secure storage. After your walk come back to the cosy warmth of the Old Mill Bed and Breakfast, with comfy armchairs and stacks of newspapers and magazines.
